More than 262,000 attendees for the 60th Salone del Mobile.Milano, exceeding all expectations in terms of attendance and sanctioning the international revival of the city and the entire furnishing system, confirming the catalytic force of the event. This edition, which took place from June 7 to 12, 2022, returned to its traditional version and was greeted by the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella. It ended with a very positive result, confirming its power to attract and mobilize at an international level.

Six days, 2,175 exhibitors, 262,608 attendees from 173 countries and 3,500 journalists. The 60th Salone del Mobile.Milano becomes an important showcase for furniture, a place to meet, exchange and share ideas, able to attract talent and tell the creativity.
It is “an international success, in the words of Maria Porro, president of the fair, which has confirmed the international scope of the event and the cohesion of the design community”.
“An important result, proving that the teamwork capacity of the entire sector and its creative and productive fabric can produce excellence, even in very complex times at the international level. We have invested in quality and demonstrated our desire to continue producing innovation and ‘telling the stories’ of our companies and products”, she continued. She added: “The contribution of ICE (Italian Institute of Foreign Trade) is valuable and unavoidable”.
Thanking the companies, organizers, installers and designers, Porro concludes, “We hope that everyone felt the enthusiasm and willingness to offer a global and conscious experience, where only ideas and cultural exchange count, because we are aware that thinking about the future and the new generations with SaloneSatellite is the way to build values in the long run”.

This year, the sustainable component on more than one level has made the fair the international stage for entrepreneurial ideas and technological solutions capable of contributing to the protection of the environment and the home, and to the more efficient use of resources, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Claudio Feltrin, President of FederlegnoArred, was delighted to “meet our customers again” and “to be back in person”: “There were many orders, as well as the opening up of new markets and the consolidation of traditional markets. The Salone has confirmed that it is an unavoidable asset”. According to him, “the smart house, the renewal of materials and the crossroads between tradition and innovation focusing on sustainability have proven that companies have continued to invest during these years even though they are so difficult”.
“The market trend,” he emphasizes, “is still extremely dynamic and healthy, as FederlegnoArredo’s data shows, although the uncertainty factors due to the international scenario force us to remain cautious. We are concerned about the cost of energy, the difficulty of finding raw materials and the erosion of purchasing power. The wood-furniture sector is currently responding to a process of change in society, which the pandemic has accelerated and which has led to a rediscovery of the values associated with the home. Now we can have a more comfortable, modern and healthy home, with sustainable and quality products”.

The presence of governmental and institutional authorities proves the importance of this event as an economic engine of the country. The support of the ICE Agency, Simest and the Lombardy Region confirms its international value. The close collaboration with Fiera Milan is noteworthy. The exhibition Design with Nature was appreciated by the public, critics, designers, architects and journalists. The same success for the public program, with the participation of famous voices (architects, innovators and visionaries): full talks, a sign that the desire to meet again and debate on the main themes of design and its social and environmental value is pressing. Long lines in the Food Court of Identità Golose, areas dedicated to gourmet breaks, signed by great names of Italian cuisine. A large crowd at the Plazza Réale, where the Salone has staged La Scatola Magica (programmed at the Plazza Réale until June 17), a multi-sensory and narrative experience that tells the story of the quality, innovation, creativity and beauty of this Milanese event, of which the Progetto Accoglienza (Welcome Project), the result of collaboration between the Milan City Council, the Fondazione Fiera and the city’s main design schools, is also a highlight. A hundred students, deployed in the metropolis, gave information on urban mobility, the fair, the activities of the Salone in the city and the main events in Milan.
