Imposing, modern, huge, simple and complex are the words to describe this residence which is located in one of the richest cities in America, Atherton, California. It is carried out by the Stanley Saitowitz/Natoma Architects office.

This house is a family property of approximately 1,580 m2. The project is executed by Stanley Saitowitz/Natoma Architects, an architectural firm with over thirty years of experience and winner of several awards. The house is located on the slopes of a hill at Atherton, California, along Ridgeview Drive which ends in a cul-de-sac. Despite its proximity to the road, the privacy of its inhabitants remains safe from prying eyes, thanks to the opaque materials used for its southern facade. On the other hand, the interior side facing north being mainly glazed, a beautiful panorama is offered to the view. Designed with a strong parallelism of lines and an apparent simplicity, the residence hides, however, an ingenious complexity. It has three levels connected by stairs: a garden level with access to the swimming pool, the pool house, the garage and the guest wing, and two imposing L-shaped structures for the overlapping floors, intersect and interconnect so as to form courtyards, bridges and overhangs. This is a beautiful and sumptuous home with contrasting impressions of solidity and lightness.
