Rubelli on Venice Simplon-Orient-Express

Travelling on the legendary Venice Simplon-Orient-Express also means travelling in a world of the textile excellence by Rubelli. The historic Venetian weavers have proudly developed and produced all of the exclusive fabrics within the new suites of the Belmond, Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, a Belmond Train, Europe.

The project was born thanks to Rubelli’s ongoing collaboration with Belmond and Wimberly Interiors, introducing travellers to a unique experience of luxury, intrigue and comfort while onboard. The suites within the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express are upholstered with elegant jacquard fabrics that have been custom-made in 100% Trevira (flame-retardant) by Rubelli, making the dreamlike journey, even more beautiful. Produced in the Rubelli Mill, in Cucciago (Como), fabrics range from deep greens, vibrant blues and earthy hazel brows to soft beiges, opulent whites and watery blue tones. Designs were supplied by Belmond, drawing inspiration from the unparalleled views which the travellers admire along their journey, relived in the fabrics themselves: the lush green of La Campagne, the autumnal view of La Foret, the mountains covered with snow in Les Montagnes and the reflection of the moonlight in Le Lac. Four works of art, the result of an intense work of research & development which could create designs able to meet the highly strict requests in the contract field. This ‘special’ collaboration between Rubelli and Belmond is thanks to Rubelli’s expertise into luxury fabrics, design and weaving, producing custom-made, high-performance and exclusive materials.
